Conversely, these adhesive pic-tacs can be used in reverse to anchor a wooden frame to a surface that will not accept a tack, such as a tile or vinyl-covered wall. Inventor Donald Frericks began development of the Frame-Tamer nearly ten years ago. He was frustrated by the way the pictures and other framed objects on the walls of his Tampa, Florida home could be nudged out of place by something as common as a breeze or a slammed door efforts. First, he tried to affix the frames to his walls using regular tacks whose heads he covered with adhesive tape. This worked for a short time, but soon the weak adhesive tape would lose its stickiness and he would have to redo the application and re-straighten all of the pictures. He then decided that a specially designed double-sided tack would be a far better solution, but the problem of simple installation still had to be overcome.
